Where to start studying design?
Entering the world of design isn’t difficult – it’s hard to know exactly where to start.
Today, the field is diverse: graphic design, web design, UX/UI, motion design, product design, and more. The internet is full of tutorials, courses, and tools, but if you don’t know what you want and how to find your way, you can easily get lost.
Understand what "designer" means
A designer is not just someone who creates logos or arranges photos beautifully. Design means solving a problem in a visual or functional way. A designer sees details, the relationship between form and color, studies user behavior, and creates solutions that effectively convey the goal.
Before you start acquiring technical skills, it is important to understand why you need design, what you expect from this field, and what direction you want to be as a designer.

Are you interested in web design? Basic courses in Figma and Adobe XD are a good place to start. Choose a direction (or try several)
Design is not a single field - it encompasses dozens of different areas. However, all of them require technical skills, as well as creativity and the ability to create concepts.

Learn the fundamental principles of design
The basic design principles underlying all directions are:
- Composition and balance - how visual elements are distributed in space;
- Color theory - how colors work together, contrast, palettes;
- Typography - the shape, weight, spacing of fonts, and the rules for combining them;
- Rhythm - how to convey information correctly and consistently;
- Visual communication - how to convey an idea to the user without words.
Learning these principles is important because they will help you create more thoughtful artwork, no matter what direction you choose.

Create a portfolio and invest as many resources as possible.
Once you have created a few pieces of work, start building a portfolio. You may not be working yet, but it is important to present and collect your ideas.
Create a Behance or Dribbble profile
- Publish projects: branding, app design, UI concept;
- Describe your process: how you arrived at the result, why you chose a particular solution;

You don't need past experience or an artist's eye to be creative in design - you need interest, systematicity, and daily effort.
